I accepted the 100 days of code challenge.
With the following tweet today morning at 06:12 I sealed my fate, I decided that for the next 100 days I will commit at the very least to 1h of extra work at home, every single day for the remainder of the 100 days. Now this may sound crazy and it may sound like I'm a bit of a masochist(I'm not) but rest assured I have good reasons to undertake this path.
Why did I do that?
Because I have had a large number of side projects on the back burner for ages now and I kinda wanted to finish them. That plus I wouldn't mind having something to showcase on my brand new shiny website other than blog posts.
So what did I create?
Well the plan was to see if I can create a simple URL shortener in the span of 3h using:
Did I manage?
HECK NO, you crazy? as usual I overestimated the amount of work, plus I had some trouble with the Node.js version of SQLite3 which ended up costing me a whole hour. Which I could have easily used to finish up the thing if everything went smoothly. Ah well at least I got a plan for tomorrow. Which is to develop a simple flat file database as I did with this blog to help me manage the URL's and their "hashes". But more on that tomorrow, since the plan is when I am finished with the thing to write an extensive blog post detailing my work.
